GHOSTS OF EDENDALE BEGINS THEATRICAL RELEASE IN PHILADELPHIA
LOS ANGELES, CA - After terrifying Los Angeles audiences and winning the Silver Lake Award at the 2003 Silver Lake Film Festival, the supernatural thriller The Ghosts of Edendale will begin a limited theatrical release in time for Halloween. Starting October 28, The Ghosts will open on two screens in the Philadelphia area.

"There has been a lot of interest from fans across the country wanting to see The Ghosts on the big screen. We are delighted to begin our theatrical release in the Philadelphia area," says producer Marianne Connor. "In many ways, it's like coming home again."

The Ghosts of Edendale will have its premiere screening on October 28 at the County Theater in Doylestown, Pennsylvania followed by additional shows at the County and Ambler Theaters. "Though I live in L.A. now, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and the County Theater will always be very special to me," says writer/director Stefan Avalos. The County Theater hosted the premiere of The Last Broadcast, Avalos' previous horror movie made with partner Lance Weiler. The Last Broadcast went on to screen theatrically across the world, winning critical acclaim for its innovative "true crime" approach to the horror genre as well as technical innovation in movie-making.

In The Ghosts of Edendale, a young couple moves to Los Angeles determined to make it in the movies. They find the perfect house on a hill in Edendale -- "right next door to Hollywood". Here, all the neighbors are in the business, and they have high hopes for Kevin and Rachel. But when something sinister takes hold of Kevin, Rachel begins to realize that her ghostly visions are real, Edendale isn't so perfect, and the price of success may be deadly.

"The first scream that ripped through the audience was a very gratifying moment for me," grins Avalos of his Los Angeles premiere. "After that, I was really determined to get the movie into other theaters." The Ghosts of Edendale is inspired by the silent-movie past of the hill Avalos lives on in Los Angeles. "That era of film has a very ghostly quality to it. People long since dead walking through the same moments over and over. The story, though, is modern and very creepy. Ghosts takes the fear of 'not belonging' to a whole new level."

Wired Magazine recognized Avalos as one of the top 25 people "helping to reinvent entertainment". The Last Broadcast made cinematic history in 1998 when it was sent by satellite to theaters across the country, pioneering the first fully digital national theatrical release of a feature motion picture. It went on to a highly successful international video release, eventually becoming one of the most profitable feature films ever made.
